Library Reference Assistant
Pacific University, Forest Grove, OR 2004-2006

Assist students with accessing all of the library’s research resources including research databases. I am experienced with advanced searching in the following databases: Lexis-Nexis, CQ Researcher, JSTOR, EBSCO, FirstSearch, OVID, und CSA as well as library catalogs and print indexes. I was also asked to perform basic office tasks, prepare research summaries and provide computer assistance. I have become highly proficient at performing goal-oriented tasks, conducting effective research, working independent of supervision, and working on flexible projects using library resources. I also worked on a project where I was tasked with mapping out the movement of reference books from the old library to the new library.

 
 
Resident Assistant

Responsible for 32 freshmen within a residence hall. Helped students with academics, adjusting to college life and provided counseling. Created a safe, entertaining, and enjoyable living environment for my residents. I was recognized for putting on excellent health awareness and political involvement programs for my students. I also have skills in counseling, first aid, behavior confrontation and conflict resolution.

 
 
Summer Conference Worker

Worked with a diverse group of conferences on campus to meet their needs for using campus resources. Worked with light and sound equipment, presentation equipment. I often led a team of four workers in finding the most efficient way to accomplish the tasks necessary each day, and gained experience in working in a small team to accomplish very specific goals.

Independent Research Project: The German School System 2006-2007
Pacific University, Forest Grove, OR

Conducted an independent research project of the various school types in Munich, Germany while studying abroad there for a year. I organized interviews with principals at the different types of schools, conducted the interviews, in German, with another American student, gave a thirty minute oral presentation in German about the schools with my partner and co-wrote a seven page summary, again in German, of my findings.

 
   
Forensics Team Member 2004-2007

I created a team web portal with a forum, news, and event calendar. Designed and deployed a news aggregation system among team members to improve research. Skilled in many different forms of public speaking and various styles of competitive debate. Planned and participated in public debates on campus opposing both students and faculty.

 
 
Munich Debate Club (Debattier Club München e.V.) 2007
Lewis and Clark College Year in Munich, Munich, Germany

Participated in a German collegiate debate organization run by German students at the Ludwig-Maximillians Universität. Debated in German and English in different debate styles including British Parliamentary, Open Parliamentary and American Parliamentary Debate. Attended weekly meetings and shared the American debate experience with an international group of students.
